On Sunday, October 25, 2020, the parishioners of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church in Red Deer, Alberta celebrated their parish praznyk (Feast Day) marking the 30th anniversary of their new church which was constructed in 1990. Bishop David Motiuk celebrated the Divine Liturgy, along with our parish priest Fr. Jim Nakonechny. To commemorate this occasion the parish ordered 2 beautiful icons and hanging vigil lamps from L’viv, Ukraine. 2 red oak icon stands which were constructed by a local carpenter from Innisfail. The parish was also gifted 2 banners by Olga Dmytrisin of Calgary. Bishop David blessed the banners and icon stands at the praznyk. The icons and vigil lamps, which did not arrive in time for Bishop’s visit, were blessed and installed on Sunday, November 8, 2020 by Fr. Jim. May God bless all of the parishioners of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church in Red Deer with many more celebrations to come.
