Fr. Roman was ordained priest by Bishop David Motiuk on May 1, 2010, in Edmonton. After ordination he was assigned to Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God Parish and Grande Prairie District, where he served for eight years. His first Sunday Divine Liturgy at Assumption parish was on August 5, 2018.

The cornerstone for the present location of the church was laid September 1955, by Most Rev. Neil Savaryn OSBM, Bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton, under whose jurisdiction were the Ukrainian Catholics in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia.
