Stations of the Cross for Peace in Ukraine and the World at St. Nicholas Parish:
“Help me, my God, to understand the love You showed for us on the Cross.”

On Sunday, March 15, 2026, St. Nicholas Parish held a special bilingual Stations of the Cross for peace in Ukraine and throughout the world. Parishioners and guests gathered to walk the Way of the Cross, entrusting to the Lord all those who suffer because of war, violence, and injustice, especially the people of Ukraine.

The service was organized by the Mothers in Prayer community as a heartfelt response to the ongoing needs of families, children, and communities affected by conflict. During the Stations, parish priest Fr. Slavko Dumec reflected on the meaning of the Cross and the final days of Christ’s earthly life, reminding the faithful that Jesus, who accepted suffering and death, has conquered death and offers hope to a wounded world. He led the meditations and prayers and, at the conclusion, gave a special blessing to all present.

After praying the stations inside the church, the congregation processed around the church grounds, continuing their intercession in visible solidarity with all who long for peace. Cross and icons led the way as hymns and responses in both Ukrainian and English filled the air, witnessing to the unity of the parish and their trust in Christ’s victory.

Many members of the Mothers in Prayer groups, families with children, parishioners, and visitors took part in the devotion, offering their intentions for loved ones at home and abroad. The organizers expressed sincere gratitude to Fr. Slavko, his family, and everyone who came to pray and meditate together.

All are invited to continue praying that the Lord may heal wounds, strengthen faith, and renew hope in Ukraine and in every place touched by war.
