Grieving the loss of a loved one is one of life’s most difficult journeys—a path filled with sorrow, questions, and emotional struggle. But within the heart of the Church, there is a place of understanding, prayer, and healing. The Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton invites all who are mourning to join Grief as a Journey, an 11-week grief support group grounded in compassion, community, and Christian faith.

You are not alone.

Whether your loss is recent or long past, unresolved grief can weigh heavily on the soul. Our support group provides a safe and welcoming space for anyone walking this difficult road. Together, we will listen, reflect, and pray—finding comfort in shared experience and strength in our faith.

Why Join a Grief Support Group?

💬 Group Sharing & Reflection
One of the most healing gifts we can receive is simply being heard. Each session includes group discussion and opportunities to share, offering participants a chance to connect with others who truly understand what they’re going through. In this sacred space, we find both empathy and encouragement.

🎥 Guided Discussions
Each meeting features video presentations offering insights into the grieving process and the human experience of loss. These are followed by guided conversations that help participants process their emotions, explore their spiritual responses, and grow in understanding.

🙏 Prayer & Spiritual Comfort
As Eastern Catholics, we believe that during grief, God walks with us. Each session includes time for prayer and reflection, drawing from the rich liturgical and spiritual traditions of our Church. Through Scripture, silence, and shared devotion, we invite God’s healing presence into our hearts.

At its heart, Grief as a Journey is a ministry of compassion—rooted in Christ’s invitation: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). We believe that healing happens in community, with support from others and guidance from the Church.

Whether you’re seeking peace, understanding, or simply the presence of others who care, this group is here for you.

Let us walk this journey of healing together — with faith, prayer, and the loving support of community.
