Position Description: Camp Oselia Program Director

Type of position:
Temporary Contract (16 weeks): Mid-to late April to late July/early August
Work duration/hours:
35 hours per week
During Camp (June 30-July 12): maximum 12 hours per day
Rate: $20.00
Primary Location: Pastoral Centre – 9645 108 Avenue, Edmonton, AB and Camp Oselia (53230 Range Rd 53, Fallis, AB).
Travel: Requires some travel to Camp Oselia
Purpose: Create and implement the non-catechetical portion of the program for Camp Oselia 2024, in cooperation with Camp Director, Camp Catechetical Director, and Family and Life staff.

Prior to Camp: ·        Design and create 1-week camp program (repeated in second week) in consultation with Camp Director/Family and Life staff. Program includes schedule, activities, crafts, sports, lessons, outings, etc., for a group of 45-60 children, appropriate to a co-ed group, 8-14 years old. ·        Work with Camp Director and Eparchial Communications staff in promotion, fundraising, processing registrations and payment, volunteer coordination, and other administrative tasks. ·        Orient camp staff to the camp program in mid/late June. During Camp – (largely on-site 24 hours during camp: June 30-July 5, July 7-12, 2024): ·        Implement camp program; lead large group activities, and supervise rotating small-group activities. ·        Help coordinate staff, adult volunteers (kitchen and camp, etc.), and junior counsellors. ·        Supervise campers and coordinate supervision with other staff, responding to escalated camper behavior, emergencies, etc. ·        Assist in executing other aspects of Camp: regular meetings, supervision of campers, administrative tasks, etc. After Camp: ·        Ensure summer camp program areas are cleaned, organized and ready to be turned over to the rental coordinator. ·        Update various documents; gather and file paper-work; prepare post-camp report with recommendations for future camps; follow-up with parents, camp staff/volunteers; promotion of Camp Oselia 2025, etc. |
Education and Experience:
Experience in management and prior experience with camp/children an asset.
Valid Drivers License, Current Standard First Aid (will be provided if needed), Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Academic experience in education, theology, psychology considered an asset.
Dynamic and committed individual who works well in team environments.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Conversational knowledge of Ukrainian (Russian, Polish, etc.) an asset.
Ability to organize and prioritize; possesses patience, flexibility, adaptability, and a sense of humour.
