Learn the painting process and also the theology and spirituality of Byzantine Iconography. No prior experience necessary. Write a traditional Egg Tempera Icon with 24k gold gilding. This year we shall paint the icon of the Theotokos of the Passion, commonly known in the Catholic Church as “Our Lady of Perpetual Help”.

Meals: Lunch and Supper will be simple.  For example, we will likely have soup and “assemble your own” sandwiches for lunch daily, and likely we shall order pizza or some other take-out for supper.  There will also be some fruit and veggies available for snacks.

If you have special dietary needs… I will try to accommodate them to some extent, but maybe you should supplement my meager options with your own food.

Fee:  $400 covers all supplies, meals, and everything else you will need.

What to bring?  A water bottle or coffee cup.  Clothes that can get dusty or painted on them (and/or an apron).  A lamp and extension cord would be useful too.

How long will each day be?  The whole painting and gilding process is about 30+ hours of work.  These are fairly long days, but we shall take breaks as needed.  We will begin at 9am and possibly go till about 9pm.  On Sunday we will start at 4pm after Fr. Bo has finished his parish duties.

Church on Sunday:  Everyone is invited to celebrate Liturgy with the parish on Sunday morning at 10 am.  If you wish to celebrate elsewhere, that’s cool too.  We shall begin the workshop at 4pm.
