1. Decorate: Do you have white sheets, tablecloths or other linens? With your children, decorate their bedrooms, and all around the house with white to remind us of how Jesus’ clothes “became dazzling white”.

Read the story of the Transfiguration Matt. 17:19 in a children’s bible or watch a video The Transfiguration I Animated Bible Story For Children| HolyTales Bible Stories for younger children “The Transfiguration | 60 Second Bible Stories | Ep16” for older children.

2. Learn about it: Access the Bozhy Dity (God’s Little Children) lesson on the Edmonton Eparchy Website.  You will learn about this amazing day in the life of the Church and have fun making “stained glass” window hangings here: https://eeparchy.com/children/

3. Bless fruit: Take fruit to church on the feast day. If you cannot be at church take the holy water that you received at Theophany and bless the fruit in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Take a basket of fruit to someone that you think would like it.

The feast of the Holy Transfiguration is celebrated late in summer when the first fruits are ripening.  This reminds us how wonderful God is to us.  He gives us fruits and vegetable to nourish us and so many more marvelous things, especially His Son Jesus! To say a special thank you to God for all that he gives us we bring these first fruits to him to be blessed.

4. Pray together: Pray a decade of the rosary meditating on the Luminous mystery of the Transfiguration. Pray for eyes to see Jesus as He truly is, the Son of God – Our Saviour.

or

Pray the Troparion for the Feast, as you stand in your icon corner facing the icon.

You were transfigured on the mount, O Christ God,* showing Your glory to Your disciples as much as they could bear.* Make Your eternal light shine* also on us who are sinners,* through the prayers of the Mother of God** O Giver of Light, glory to You! (3X)

Glory be to the Father & to the Son & to the Holy Spirit. Now & for ever & ever. Amen.
