Reverend priests, dear brothers and sisters,
Faithful of the Edmonton Eparchy of our Church!

I have been informed that in a large area of the Province of Alberta people are suffering from a recent devastating wildfire (the extent of which is still unknown).  Over [80,000] people were forced to evacuate from their homes.  Due to weather and natural conditions, the dangerous and unforeseen wildfire is completely destroying tens of thousands of hectares of land, taking with it populated areas, the greatest of them being the City of Fort McMurray.

In this letter, I would like to express my solidarity and closeness in prayer with all the faithful and those who have suffered loss from this natural disaster.  Your brothers and sisters in Ukraine and throughout the world feel your pain as their own.

We pray for you, that the Almighty Lord grant you the courage and strength to overcome the consequences of this misfortune.

May the risen Christ be your strength and your hope.

The blessing of the Lord be upon you!
