About Sts Borys and Hlib Parish – Redwater

Sts. Borys and Hlib Parish in Redwater was founded in the early 1950s by the faithful of Cookville and Redwater, who came together to build a new church for their growing Ukrainian Catholic community. The parish was dedicated to Sts. Borys and Hlib, the medieval Ukrainian martyrs, and quickly became a place of prayer, service, and shared identity. By the end of 1952, the basement had been built, and the parish continued to grow with the support of Bishop Neil Savaryn and many devoted families.

The church was gradually completed and furnished through the generosity and hard work of parishioners and community leaders. Its design came from architect George Chornenko, while the interior art and iconostasis reflected the care of local benefactors and artists. With an active UCWL, a parish council, and a strong sense of community, Sts. Borys and Hlib Parish became a lasting spiritual home for Ukrainian Catholics in Redwater.
