About St. Michael the Archangel Parish – Rossington

St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Rossington began as a small but devoted Ukrainian Catholic community formed by settlers who arrived in the late 1920s from the Lemko region. At first, the faithful gathered for services in homes and on farms, with priests travelling long distances from Edmonton to celebrate the Divine Liturgy and accompany the community in its early years. Over time, the parish grew through the generosity and labour of parishioners who worked together to build a church, establish a cemetery, and create a lasting spiritual home for their families.

The parish became especially strong in the 1950s and 1960s, when a church was built, blessed, and later improved with stucco and other additions. It was supported by dedicated clergy, active parish executives, and a women’s group that helped sustain parish life. St. Michael Parish remains remembered for the faith, sacrifice, and perseverance of its founders, who built a parish life rooted in worship, community, and Ukrainian Catholic tradition.
