Holy Trinity Parish – Prosperity

Holy Trinity Parish in Prosperity is a Ukrainian Catholic community rooted in the faith and sacrifice of the early settlers who arrived in the area beginning in 1929. The first Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the home of Mykola Cholach in 1936, and soon afterwards, the parishioners began building their own church in very difficult times. Fifteen families joined in the effort, working together to create a permanent place of worship and a residence for the clergy so that parish life could continue in the community.

The parish also established a cemetery and became officially registered as the Ruthenian Greek Catholic Parish of Holy Trinity Prosperity. Supported by families from Prosperity and nearby places, the parish grew into a lasting spiritual home for Ukrainian Catholics in the region. Its history reflects perseverance, generosity, and a strong desire to preserve faith and community in rural Alberta.
