Holy Eucharist Parish – Stry

Holy Eucharist Parish in Stry began with Ukrainian settlers arriving in the area at the start of the 20th century, and Fr. Philip Ruh, an Oblate who joined the Ukrainian Catholic Church, was the first to serve the community. The parish had purchased 10 acres of land by 1910 for the church and cemetery, built its first church in 1913, and completed a second church in 1934. The first church was later converted into a church residence in 1968 and equipped with utilities, while the parish also maintained an active UCWL.

At its strongest, the parish grew from about 20 families to 52 families. On July 7, 1985, Holy Eucharist Parish celebrated its 75th anniversary with Bishop Demetrius Greschuk in attendance, marking a long history of faith and parish life near Vilna.
