Ever wondered what is really happening in the Divine Liturgy, and why it matters?
Join men ages 16 and older for a welcoming weekend of talks, conversation, prayer and fellowship. Explore how the words, movements and rhythm of Byzantine worship shape the way we pray, live and participate in the life of the Church.
No previous liturgical knowledge is required. Come with questions, bring a son, friend or neighbour, and discover a deeper appreciation for the Divine Liturgy together.
What we will explore
- Friday keynote: The history and development of the Byzantine Divine Liturgy, why the Liturgy is an action for the people, and how posture, movement, focus and repetition shape our worship.
- Saturday sessions: The Daily Office of the Eastern Church and how it prepares us for the Divine Liturgy.
- Practical discussion: A Liturgical Survival Guide to the changeable parts of the services and ways to pray the Daily Office without a priest.
Our speakers
Ilya Galadza is a tonsured reader and cantor at the Church of St. Elias the Prophet in Brampton, Ontario. A lifelong student of Church music, liturgical tradition and old service books, he produces liturgical resources and helps make the meaning of Byzantine worship accessible.
He will be joined by Protodeacon Cyril Kennedy of the Edmonton Eparchy.

Early-bird registration is available until October 1. Commuter and live-in options are available, with meals and snacks included. A limited number of overnight rooms are available, so early registration is encouraged.
