Emmaus – Eparchy Youth Group

Looking for a place where you can meet new people, talk openly about faith and life, ask real questions, and simply enjoy being together?
Emmaus is a monthly bilingual youth gathering for teenagers ages 12–17 from across the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton.
You do not need to belong to a particular parish or already know everyone. Emmaus brings teenagers from different communities together to build friendships, explore their Catholic faith, and discover a stronger sense of belonging in the Church.
English and Ukrainian are both welcome. Participation is free. No registration is needed.
A place to learn, ask and belong
Emmaus is not meant to feel like another class.
Each gathering creates space for young people to talk, listen, ask honest questions, learn something new, meet other teens and have fun together.
Faith is part of the conversation, but so are friendship, everyday life, challenges, questions and the things that matter to young people right now.
You do not need to have all the answers. You just need to come.
What happens at Emmaus?
Every gathering is a little different, but the evening usually combines prayer, short faith formation, conversation and social time.
You can expect prayer together, short talks or guest speakers, small-group conversations and activities, opportunities to ask questions, games, food, fellowship and time to simply connect with other young people.
Throughout the year, Emmaus may also include special speakers, retreats, service projects, pilgrimages and other youth events.
The goal is simple: to create a community where teenagers can grow in faith without pressure, build meaningful friendships and feel that they have a place in the Church.

Emmaus is a place where prayer and faith formation meet real conversation and real relationships.
We want young people to feel comfortable asking questions instead of feeling that they are expected to already know everything.We want them to meet other teenagers who share similar values. And we want the Church to become more than somewhere they occasionally attend—it can also become a community where they are known, welcomed and supported.
Why “Emmaus”?
The name Emmaus comes from the Gospel of Luke 24:13–35.
Two disciples were travelling on the road to Emmaus when the risen Christ began walking with them. At first, they did not recognize Him. Through the journey, conversation and eventually the breaking of bread, their eyes were opened and they recognized Jesus.
Emmaus Youth Group takes inspiration from that journey.Sometimes we encounter Christ in obvious moments of prayer. Other times, we recognize Him through a conversation, a friendship, a question, a shared meal or an ordinary moment.Emmaus gives young people a place to make that journey together.
Who can come?
Emmaus is for teenagers ages 12–17.Young people from all parishes across Edmonton and the Eparchy are welcome.
You can come with friends or come on your own. You can be very involved in church, just beginning to explore your faith, or simply curious about the group.
