Praying with Icons: An Advent Retreat with Bishop David Motiuk

Join Bishop David Motiuk for a live-in Advent Retreat at Providence Renewal Centre in Edmonton from Friday, December 11, to Sunday, December 13, 2026.

This retreat will offer an opportunity to prepare spiritually for the Nativity of Our Lord through prayerful reflection on the Nativity icon. The icon invites us to enter more deeply into the mystery of the Incarnation — God becoming man — and to contemplate the people and symbols gathered around Christ’s birth.

During the retreat, participants will reflect on the figures and features of the Nativity icon, including Mary, Joseph, the angels, the shepherds, the Magi, the midwives, the star, and the cave.

The weekend will include time for prayer, spiritual reflection, celebration of the Divine Eucharist, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Come and enter more deeply into the mystery and joy of Christ’s birth as we prepare our hearts for Christmas.

Registration deadline: December 2, 2026
Cost: Suite: $350; Single room: $300; Commuter: $225
