25th Bohdan Bociurkiw Memorial Lecture: The World Has Never Been So Ukrainian

The World has Never been so Ukrainian: Challenges and Оpportunities of the Global Ukrainian Community

The Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton invites you to the 25th Bohdan Bociurkiw Memorial Lecture, presented by Metropolitan Borys Gudziak, Metropolitan-Archbishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia.

This year’s lecture, titled “The World Has Never Been So Ukrainian: Challenges and Opportunities of the Global Ukrainian Community,” will be presented as the keynote address of the international symposium “Recentring the Humanities: Ukraine and the World.”

The event marks the 25th anniversary of the Bohdan Bociurkiw Memorial Lecture series and the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies.

In his address, Metropolitan Borys Gudziak will reflect on Ukraine’s role as an epicentre of global change and on the experiences of Ukrainians who are building communities across six continents. The lecture will consider the challenges and opportunities created by migration, displacement, cultural identity, assimilation, and the growing global solidarity with Ukraine.

The lecture will be held in person at the Horowitz Theatre at the University of Alberta and will also be broadcast online via Zoom. A reception will follow the lecture.
