Troparion, Tone 4: You seem a terror unscalable to the devils,* crippling them by the club of your effective prayers.* You chase away passion by fasting.* You are a firm support of those wavering.* O blessed father Alypius,* beg Christ our God to save our souls.

Troparion, Tone 4: Sated with miracles, the whole world blesses you today.* Drunk with your blood, the earth keeps a holiday.* The Christians of Kiev rejoice at the dedication of your Church, O martyr George,* O chosen vessel of the Holy Spirit who pleased Christ.* Beg Him to forgive the sins* of those who come to your Church with faith and prayer.* Beg Him to give peace to the world and mercy to our souls.

Kontakion, Tone 8: The Church glorifies and honours you today O Alypius,* a perfect example of virtue and pride of the ascetics.* Through your prayers, release from their sins* all those who eagerly venerate your life and struggles.

Epistle

1 Timothy 6:17-21

Timothy, my son, as for those who in the present age are rich, command them not to be haughty, or to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but rather on God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share, thus storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of the life that really is life.

Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid the profane chatter and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge; by professing it some have missed the mark as regards the faith.

Luke 18:31-34

At that time, Jesus took the twelve aside and said to them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished. For he will be handed over to the Gentiles; and he will be mocked and insulted and spat upon. After they have flogged him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise again.” But they understood nothing about all these things; in fact, what he said was hidden from them, and they did not grasp what was said.
