In Tone 7

10. Lead my soul forth from prison* that I may give thanks to Your name.

Come, let us rejoice in the Lord,* who destroyed the power of death* and enlightened the human race;* and let us cry out with the angels:* Glory to You, our Creator and Saviour!

9. The just shall gather around me* when You have been good to me.

O Saviour, for our sake You suffered crucifixion and burial;* and, as God, You destroyed death by Your death.* Therefore, we adore Your resurrection on the third day* and we sing: Glory to You, O Lord!

8. Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord;* O Lord, hear my voice!

On seeing the resurrection of the Creator,* the apostles were amazed,* and they sang an angelic hymn of praise:* This is the glory of the Church,* this is the richness of the Kingdom!* O Lord, who suffered for our sake, glory to You!

7. Let Your ears be attentive* to the voice of my prayer.

O Christ, although You were taken captive by Your enemies,* I still acknowledge You as my God,* and am not ashamed of You;* I will not hide the fact that You were nailed to the Cross.* Your death is my life, almighty Lord,* and I extol Your resurrection.* O Lover of mankind, glory to You!

6. If You mark iniquities, Lord, who can stand?* But with You forgiveness is that You may be revered.

In fulfilment of the prophecy of David,* Christ revealed His majesty to His disciples in Sion.* He showed Himself to be worthy of equal praise* with His Father and the Holy Spirit;* for He existed from all eternity as God the Word, without a body;* then, out of love for mankind, He became incarnate,* and for our sake He was put to death as a man;* finally, by His own power He arose from the dead.

5. I have waited for You as You have commanded; my soul patiently relies on Your promise,* for it has trusted in the Lord.

O Christ, of Your own free will, You descended into Hades;* and, as God the Lord, You destroyed death.* On the third day You arose from the dead and raised up Adam* from the bonds of Hades and corruption.* In joy he cried out and said:* Glory to Your resurrection, O Lover of mankind!

4. From the morning watch until night* let Israel trust in the Lord.

O Word and lover of Mankind,* infinite and beyond description in Your taking flesh for our sake,* the nobles assembly of Fathers proclaimed that You are both perfect man and perfect God,* one person in two perfect natures with two perfect wills.* Therefore, we profess that You are one God with the Father and the Holy Spirit.* We sing a hymn of praise to the Fathers, and we adore You.

3. For with the Lord there is mercy, and with Him there is plentiful redemption;* and He shall redeem Israel from all its iniquities.

O glorious Fathers of the Councils,* you demonstrated that Pyrrhus, Sergius, and Onuphrius,* Dioscorus, and Nestorius were in error* concerning the doctrines of Christ.* You save the flock by teaching the true principle* that Christ is one divine person in two natures.* This Christ we adore as perfect man and perfect God,* one with the Father and the Holy Spirit.* O holy Fathers, we honour you and sing to you a hymn of praise.

2. Praise the Lord, all the nations;* proclaim His glory, all you people.

The Fathers of the Councils, inspired by God,* declare and explain that in Christ* there is a divine act and a divine will,* uncreated and infinite:* the act and will of the Son of God.* There is also a human act and a human will:* those of the Son of Man.* Thus, they proclaim that Christ is one divine person having two natures,* the one is divine and the other is human.* Therefore, we the faithful honour these Fathers every year* and glorify Christ who glorified them.

1. Strong is the love of the Lord for us;* eternally will His truth endure.

The Fathers of the Councils proclaim to us today* that the eternal Trinity is one God and one Lord.* They explain the Trinity is of one nature,* consubstantial, of one will and one act,* not divided nor shared but existing in the simplicity of God’s being.* They define that this will and act of God* had no beginning and will never have and end.* Therefore, we the faithful glorify these Fathers* as the equals of the Apostles,* for they taught all people the true doctrine of God.

In Tone 6

Glory…

Let us honour today those mystical trumpets of the Spirit,* namely the God-mantled Fathers,* who speaking of divine things,* sang in the midst of the Church a hymn in unison,* teaching that the Trinity is one,* not differing in substance or Godhead,* refuting Arius and defending the orthodox faith.* They always intercede with the Lord* to have mercy on our souls.

In Tone 7

Now…

Immaculate Mother of God,* you became a mother outside the laws of nature,* remaining a virgin in a way that exceeds all description* and human understanding.* The wonder of your birth-giving could not be told in human language,* for your conception of Christ blinded intelligence,* and your birth-giving exceeded understanding:* for whenever God so desires, the laws of nature are broken.* Wherefore, we all firmly believe that you are the Mother of God,* and we eagerly beseech you to intercede for the salvation of our souls.

Come, let us worship Christ who arose from the dead* and enlightened all creation.* For by His resurrection on the third day,* He set us free from the oppression of Hades,* granting us life and His great mercy.

For He has made the world firm, which shall not be moved.

O Christ, Lover of mankind,* You descended into Hades and destroyed death.* Then You arose on the third day;* and, together with Yourself You lifted up all of us* who glorify Your mighty resurrection.

Holiness befits Your house, O Lord, for length of days.

O holy Fathers of the Councils,* you are the faithful keepers of the Apostles’ traditions.* By proclaiming that the three persons of the Holy Trinity* are one and consubstantial,* you refuted the blasphemy of Arius.* By teaching that the Holy Spirit is a distinct person,* one with the Father and the Son,* you put Macedonius, Severus and other heretics to shame.* Therefore, we beseech you to intercede for us,* preserving us from heresy and error* and keeping our lives blameless in God’s sight.

Now…

O most pure Virgin, hear the petitions of your servants.* Remove the burdens which oppress us,* and deliver us from our sorrows;* for you are the only firm and constant support on whom we rely.* O Mother of God, never permit us who call upon you* to be overwhelmed by our cares.* Hasten to fulfil the supplications of all who, in faith, cry out to you:* Rejoice, O Lady, helper of all mankind,* the joy, the refuge, and the salvation of our souls.

Kontakion, Tone 7: No longer shall the dominion of death be able to hold humanity,* for Christ went down shattering and destroying it s powers.* Hades is bound.* The prophets exult with one voice.* The Saviour has come for those with faith, saying:* “Come forth, O faithful, to the resurrection!”

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

Kontakion, Tone 6: The Son who ineffably shone from the Father* was born two-fold of nature from a woman.* Beholding Him, we do not reject the image of His form;* but depicting it, we revere it faithfully.* Therefore, the Church, holing the true faith,* kisses the icon of Christ’s becoming man.

Theotokion, Tone 6: Undaunted patroness of Christians,* O steadfast intermediary with the Creator,* turn not away from the suppliant voices of sinners,* but in your kindness come to help us who cry out to you in faith.* Be quick to intercede, make haste to plead,* for you are ever the patroness of those who honour you, O Mother of God.

Epistle: Hebrews 13:7-16 (NRSV)
Brothers and Sisters, remember your leaders, those who spoke the word of God to you; consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings; for it is well for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by regulations about food, which have not benefited those who observe them. We have an altar from which those who officiate in the tent have no right to eat. For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin are burned outside the camp. Therefore Jesus also suffered outside the city gate in order to sanctify the people by his own blood. Let us then go to him outside the camp and bear the abuse he endured. For here we have no lasting city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. Through him, then, let us continually offer a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Gospel: John 17:1-13 (NRSV)
At that time Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all people, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do. So now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had in your presence before the world existed.

“I have made your name known to those whom you gave me from the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything you have given me is from you; for the words that you gave to me I have given to them, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. I am asking on their behalf; I am not asking on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those whom you gave me, because they are yours. All mine are yours, and yours are mine; and I have been glorified in them. And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Премудрість.

Чтець: З книги Буття читання

Будьмо уважні.

Чтець: Як же Аврам почув, що його братанича взято в полон, озброїв своїх вправних слуг, що народилися в його домі, числом триста вісімнадцять, і погнався за тими аж до Дану. Вночі він із слугами, окремими загонами, вдарив на них, розбив їх і гнався за ними аж до Хови, що на північ від Дамаску. Він відібрав усе майно, а й Лота, свого братанича, з його добром, і привів назад, також і жінок з людьми. Коли ж він, розбивши Кедорлаомера з царями, які були з ним, повертався назад, цар Содому вийшов йому назустріч у Шаве-долину, себто в Царську долину. А Мелхіседек, цар Салему, виніс хліб і вино – він був священик Бога Всевишнього – поблагословив його й мовив: “Хай благословен буде Аврам Богом Всевишнім, що сотворив небо й землю. Благословен хай буде Бог Всевишній, що видав ворогів твоїх тобі в руки!” І дав йому (Аврам) десяту частину з усього. (Бут. 14, 14-20)

Будьмо уважні.

Чтець: Того часу Мойсей сказав до синів Ізраїля: Оце даю вам край у ваше посідання; йдіть і займіть землю, про яку клявся Господь батькам вашим, Авраамові, Ісаакові та Яковові, що віддасть їм і потомкам їхнім. Того часу промовив я до вас: Не здолаю я один узяти на себе ваші тягарі. Господь, Бог ваш, намножив вас так, що ви оце нині численні, як зорі небесні. Нехай Господь, Бог батьків ваших, додасть до вас тисячу разів стільки, скільки вас є, і благословить вас, як обіцяв вам. Але як же міг би я один нести ваші тягарі, ваші труднощі та ваші свари? Виберіть собі, отже, для ваших поколінь людей мудрих, кмітливих, досвідчених, і я поставлю їх головами над вами. І ви мені відповідаючи, сказали: Добру річ радиш зробити. Отож, я й узяв головних із ваших поколінь, людей мудрих та досвідчених, і настановив їх головами над вами, тисяцькими, соцькими, п’ятдесяцькими й десяцькими та правителями ваших поколінь. Того ж самого часу я дав і суддям вашим такий наказ: Вислуховуйте справи ваших братів і судіть справедливо між будь-ким і його братом та чужинцем. Коли судите, не зважайте на лице; вислухайте так малого, як і великого, нікого не страхайтеся, бо суд – Божий. А коли справа для вас занадто тяжка, передайте її мені, я її вислухаю (Втор. 1, 8-11, 15-17)

Будьмо уважні.

Чтець: Того часу сказав Мойсей до синів Ізраїля: Небо й небеса небес, земля й усе, що на ній, усе належить до Господа, Бога твого. А все ж таки прихилився Господь до твоїх батьків, щоб їх полюбити, і вибрав вас, їхніх пізніших потомків, з-поміж усіх народів, як оце нині й сталося. Обріжте ж ваше необрізане серце й ваш карк нехай більше не буде впертим! Бо Господь, Бог наш, Бог над богами й Господь над володарями, Бог великий, могутній і страшний, що не зважає на особу й не бере дарунків, що творить суд сироті й удовиці та милує чужинця, даючи йому хліб і одежу. А любіть і ви чужинця, бо ви самі були чужинцями в Єгипетській землі. Господа, Бога твого, бійся, йому служи, його держись, його ім’ям клянись. Він твоя слава, він – Бог твій, який для тебе виконав ті великі і страшні речі, що їх ти бачив на власні очі. (Втор. 10, 14-21)

Стих: Господь царює,* у велич він зодягнувся.

Прийдіть і поклонімось воскреслому з мертвих,* що всіх просвітив,* бо він визволив нас від адських мук* своїм на третій день воскресінням,* даючи нам життя і велику милість.

Стих: Бо він утвердив вселенну,* і вона не захитається.

В ад зійшовши, Христе, ти смерть полонив* і, на третій день воскреснувши, з собою воскресив і нас,* що славимо твоє могутнє воскресіння,* чоловіколюбний Господи.

Стих: Домові твоєму, Господи,* належить святість на довгі літа.

Дивним ти, Господи, видавався, немов сонний лежачи в гробі,* але воскреснувши на третій день,* як всемогутній, ти співвоскресив Адама, що кликав:* Слава воскресінню твоєму, єдиний Чоловіколюбче!

Слава (г. 4): Вшановуючи сьогодні річницю пра­вовірних зборів* у світлому місті Нікеї,* вірно вшановуємо богоносних Отців,* що зібралися з усієї вселенної.* Вони бо побожно й мудро відки­нули безбожну науку єхидного Арія* і соборно прогнали його з Католицької Церкви,* навчаючи всіх у Символі віри,* – виклавши його докладно й правовірно,* – ясно визнавати одноістотного й споконвічного Сина Божого.* Тому й ми, йдучи за їхнім божественним навчанням,* з несхитною вірою служимо з Отцем Синові і Всесвятому Ду­хові* в одності Божества, Тройці єдиносущній.

(г. 7): Розрушив Ти хрестом твоїм смерть,* отворив Ти розбійникові рай,* мироносицям плач перемінив єси,* і апостолам проповідати повелів єси,* що воскрес Ти, Христе Боже,* даючи світові велику милість.

Слава (г. 8): Препрославлений ти, Христе Боже наш, що на землі Отців наших появив світилами* і ними навів усіх нас на істинну віру.* Багатомилосердний, слава тобі!

БОЖЕСТВЕННА ЛІТУРГІЯ:

 

Тропарі і Кондаки
Тропар (глас 7): 3нищив Ти хрестом Твоїм смерть, відчинив розбійникові рай, мироносицям плач на радість перемінив і апостолам звелів проповідувати, що воскрес Ти, Христе Боже, даючи світові велику милість.

I Отців, глас 8: Препрославлений Ти, Христе Боже наш,* світила на землі – отців наших оснував Ти* і ними до істинної віри всіх нас направив Ти.* Багатомилосердний, слава Тобі.

Кондак (глас 7): Вже більше влада смерти не зможе людей держати, зійшов бо Христос, знищивши і знівечивши сили її, зв’язується ад, пророки ж однодушно радіють. З’явився Спас тим, що вірують, промовляючи: Виходьте, вірні, до воскресіння.

+Слава Отцю, і Сину, і Святому Духові.

Кондак Отців, глас 6: Ти – із Отця несказанно возсіявший Син* – з жени родився подвійний єством.* Його видячи, не відрікаємося виду зображення,* але Його, благочесно написавши, вірно почитаємо.* I ради того Церква, держачи істинну віру,* цілує ікону вочоловічення Христового.

І нині, і повсякчас, і на віки вічні. Амінь.

Богородичний (глас 6): Заступнице християн непостидна,* молитвенице до Творця незамінна,* не погорди голосами молінь грішників,* але випереди як благая з поміччю нам, що вірно співаємо Тобі:* Поспішись на молитву і скоро прийди на моління,* заступаючи повсякчас, Богородице, тих, що почитають Тебе.

Прокімен (глас 4):
Благословен єси, Господи, Боже отців наших,* і хвальне, і прославлене ім’я твоє на віки (Дан 3,26).
Стих: Бо праведний єси в усьому, що сотворив ти нам (Дан 3,27).

Браття і Сестри, пам’ятайте про наставників ваших, які звіщали вам слово Боже, і дивлячись уважно на кінець їхнього життя, наслідуйте їхню віру. Ісус Христос учора й сьогодні – той самий навіки. Не піддавайтеся різним та чужим наукам: воно бо добре укріпити серце благодаттю, не стравами, які не принесли ніякої користи тим, що віддавалися їм. Є у нас жертовник, з якого не мають права їсти ті, що при наметі служать. Бо котрих звірят кров архиєрей заносить у святиню за гріхи, тих м’ясо палиться за табором. Тому й Ісус, щоб освятити народ власною своєю кров’ю, страждав поза містом. Тож виходьмо до нього за табір, несучи наругу його, бо ми не маємо тут постійного міста, а майбутнього шукаєм. Через нього принесім завжди Богові жертву хвали, тобто плід уст, які визнають його ім’я. Добродійства та взаємної допомоги не забувайте: такі бо жертви Богові приємні.

Євангеліє: (Ів 17,1-13):
В той час Ісус, підвівши очі свої до неба, проказав: «Отче, прийшла година! Прослав свого Сина, щоб Син твій тебе прославив, згідно з владою, що її ти дав йому над усяким тілом: дарувати життя вічне тим, яких ти передав йому. А вічне життя у тому, щоб вони спізнали тебе, єдиного, істинного Бога, і тобою посланого – Ісуса Христа. Я тебе на землі прославив, виконавши те діло, яке ти дав мені до виконання. Тепер же прослав мене, Отче, у себе – славою тією, що її я мав у тебе перед тим, як постав світ! Я об’явив твоє ім’я людям, яких ти від світу передав мені. Вони були твої, ти ж передав мені їх, і зберегли вони слово твоє. Нині збагнули вони, що все, тобою дане мені – від тебе; слова бо, тобою мені дані, я їм дав, і сприйняли вони їх, і справді збагнули, що від тебе я вийшов, і увірували, що ти мене послав. Молю ж за них: не за світ молю, лише за тих, яких ти передав мені, бо вони – твої. І все моє – твоє, твоє ж – моє, і в них я прославився. Я вже більш не у світі, а вони у світі, і я до тебе йду. Отче Святий! Заради імени твого бережи їх, тих, що їх ти мені передав, щоб були одно, як ми! Бувши з ними у світі, я беріг їх у твоє ім’я; тих, яких ти передав мені, я їх стеріг, і ніхто з них не пропав, лише син загибелі, щоб збулося Писання. Тепер же іду до тебе, і кажу те, у світі бувши, щоб вони радощів моїх мали у собі вщерть.
