WHAT: Ukrainian Catholic school of cantoring for youth and young families.
WHY: In age-appropriate ways students will revel in the beauty of the melodies used during services in the Ukrainian Catholic church, and will also learn to cantor those services. We will chant, sing the tones, learn to use various church texts, build community through sharing a meal together, and praise our Lord by praying the vespers service. All this is done in the hopes of deepening our youth’s faith and bringing up the next generation of cantors for our church.
WHO: Classes are geared towards children, youth and young adults aged 4-35, with the option of parents/guardians joining the lessons with the eldest group. Instructors TBA. WHERE: Classes will be held in Mundare, AB, just 45 minutes outside of Edmonton. Details TBA.
WHEN: The 3rd Saturday of each month, September through May, 2019. Classes to begin at 2:30pm and finish at 5:15pm, with vespers being celebrated immediately afterwards (by optional attendance). A meal will be provided at 3:30pm.
HOW: Through the generous grant provided by the Edmonton Eparchy’s Youth Evangelization Fund.
