The Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton and the Camp Oselia Society are hiring several summer positions in 2019. The positions are made possible through the Canada Summer Grants project and require eligible applicants to be:

• Between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of the employment
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada

We are pleased to offer the following positions, each to commence mid-May or early June 2019:

Digital Media Assistant

Resource Assistant/ Translator

Position Description: Digital Media Assistant

Type of position: Temporary/ Full Time
expiry date: TBD
Work duration/hours: 10 weeks at 30 hours per week
Rate: $20.00 /hour
Primary Location: Eparchial Pastoral Centre 9645 108 Avenue Edmonton AB
Travel: May requires some travel within Edmonton to pick up supplies, etc.
Purpose: Publish educational and informative materials for children and adults, and make them available to parishes, schools and the broader community from the Eparchy’s website. Position provided for by the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

Key Objective: Digital Media
Responsibilities:
• Work with various groups to obtain materials and convert content into suitable online resources focusing on visual communication, web and media design
• Involvement in video production (filming), editing and posting (streaming)
• Evaluate methods of digital streaming based on content available and recommend options to meet needs of a province-wide audience
• Evaluate and develop opportunities for interactive content using recommended software
• Assist with developing a process for technical video production

Key Objective: Website
Responsibilities:
• Assist with updating the design and profile of the website
• Edit content for posting to website Other related duties

Key Objective: Other related duties
Responsibilities:
• Participate in the set up and management of social media posts
• Participate in the development of policy as it relates to external communication
• Provide a weekly status reports as required
• Perform other duties as maybe required from time to time

Education and Experience:
First or second year computer science and/or digital media program student
Experience/exposure to web management
Works well in a team environment
Excellent oral communication and excellent written skills
Ability to organize and prioritize
Possesses patience, flexibility, adaptability and a sense of humor
Trustworthy, respects confidentiality, makes sound judgments, seeks counsel of others

Position Description: Resource Assistant/Translator

Type of position: Temporary/ Full Time
expiry date: TBD
Work duration/hours: 8 weeks at 30 hours per week
Rate: $18.00 /hour
Primary Location: Eparchial Pastoral Centre, 9645 108 Avenue Edmonton AB
Travel: May require some travel within Edmonton

Purpose: Compile digital and hardcopy resources (copy in English and Ukrainian) to produce educational materials. Position provided for by the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

Key Objective: Resource Development
Responsibilities
• Evaluate existing digital and hardcopy resources, and sort and compile by topic, theme or other groupings as recommended
• Assist with the production of educational resources for various age groups, academic levels and interest areas including children, young adults and seniors
• Develop resources for posting to websites and other social media forums
• Materials may be used within the Alberta curriculum (Ukrainian Bilingual School program), therefore related educational rubrics must be considered and followed

Key Objective: Translation
Responsibilities
• Assist with translating materials from English to Ukrainian and Ukrainian to English.
• Translation will consider target audiences’ fluency, age and academic level
• Edit content as required (in Ukrainian and English)

Responsibilities
• Perform other duties as maybe required from time to time

Education and Experience:
First or second year education or relatable training
Translator from English to Ukrainian – preferably experience with academic institutions in this role
Experience developing or editing children’s (ages 5 to 16) resources
Works well in a team environment; good contributor and problem solver
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize
Possesses patience, flexibility, adaptability and a sense of humor
Trustworthy, respects confidentiality, makes sound judgments, seeks counsel of others
